Ellery is getting so BIG! She is making lots of cute sounds and talking a bunch (only "dada", "mama", and "baba" still though). She is smart too. She tries to help me change her clothes now. She even knows what goes next (after the first arm, goes the second). She's sort of starting to wave hello. AND for the big news!: She started crawling yesterday!!! (sort of ha). I think she'll have it down in a week. She knows how to get from her bum, to her tummy, to crawling position, kneeling, back to her bumb! I even found her sitting up in her crib for the first time today. And she's starting to pull herself up on things too.
Cuteness:
Crawling (sort of):
Unfortunately though, right after I made this video, I took a shower and put Ellery on the floor right by the tub, just like I always do, and she always just sits there and behaves, but TODAY she CRAWLED over to the TOILET and pulled herself up on it before I could get to her. YIKES. This crawling thing is bittersweet. What am I going to do now when I shower? Bring the highchair in the bathroom and strap her in...?
This girl isn't even "mobile" yet and she is already getting into everything and making crazy messes! I'm sure I'm doomed for much worse once she's crawling/walking.
Yes, she pulled everything out of that dresser all by herself!
Again, I've been rounding up for weeks, so I feel like she's older than that...
At her doctor's appointment yesterday, she weighed 19.5 lbs and measured 27 inches. Surprisingly, she hasn't gained much weight since her 6 month appointment. She's sure healthy though! And the doctor gave the OK on ANY foods now (besides PB and honey)! WOW! That gives us a whole lot more options. And because of that, I've decided to cut back more nursing sessions (from 5 a day to 4 a day-remember I don't feed her in the night anymore).
We gave her YOGURT for the first time yesterday and she LOVED it.
And then we gave her spaghetti..oh boy was that messy. I pretty much only feed her in just a diaper these days because I can't seem to feed her without getting food EVERYwhere. She can't keep her little hands out of her mouth and then, once covered in food, she rubs them in her hair and all over her face and clothes and everything else.
She is still not "mobile." She crawls sideways and backwards really well, but never more than 5 feet, and she still can't go forward.
She pulls herself up from sitting to kneeling, but not to standing yet.
However, she is now a pro stander! She can stand by herself pretty well if she's holding onto something. Although I still don't dare leave the room with her standing up because she will eventually fall down and she typically falls all the way down, not just on her bum, which results in tears.
She is officially saying "Mama" now! Wahoo! Although she only says it when she is upset or wants picked up, but I'll take it! Nothing melts my heart more than seeing her reach up and say, "Mama."
Ellery is now kneeling! Well, she doesn't really like kneeling, but she can.
She can also stand by herself now (for like 4 seconds-while holding onto something...ha). But she LOVES standing. That's all she ever wants to do. She seems so much older just in the last week. She now crawls out of our laps every time we hold her (but still not actually crawling), and she switches positions on her own a lot now (like from sitting to laying down on her stomach).
Love our little cougar fan
Yes, that would be Ellery looking fondly at the TV screen (Blue's Clue's most likely).
Grandma and Grandpa Shurtliff gave Ellery a Minnie Mouse stuffed animal from their recent adventure at Disney World. She sleeps with it every night now. AND I am no longer swaddling her!! I just randomly decided to slowly stop. It took about 4 days/nights and now she's done! No problem. She is also now sleeping on her stomach a lot of the time.
Steak n' Shake-BEST MILKSHAKES EVER
Uh, I try to keep dirty things (like this restaurant table) out of her mouth, but this girl is QUICK!

P.S. no more taking her to restaurants : ( She is one squirmy, noisy girl lately!
She got a balloon at Central Market. She was actually kind of afraid of it though haha.
Crazy hair day
Sad and angry baby
TOP TEETH!
My mama as a baby and Ellery side by side. She looked more like Ellery than I did.
and a video of Ellery dancing to her princess song book:
(whenever music comes on she bobs back and forth, so we've determined that's her dancing!)
